"Rahul Gandhi should grow up and act mature. Parliament is not a playground where you can push people causing MPs to get injured... It is condemnable what he has done... Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) [India], December 20 (ANI): Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Thursday criticised the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi over scuffle at the Parliament premises which led to injury to BJP MP Pratap Sarangi.
BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi alleged that he was injured after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pushed another MP, who then fell on him. Sarangi claimed that he was standing near the stairs when another member of Parliament (MP) fell on him, leading to an injury on his head.
Speaking to ANI, Deputy Chief Minister Deo said that what he has done is condemnable as the injury could have been "fatal".
"Rahul Gandhi should grow up and act mature. Parliament is not a playground where you can push people causing MPs to get injured... It is condemnable what he has done... The injury could have been fatal... Because this has happened within the premises of the Parliament, the Speaker should take action as deemed fit," Deo stated.
Earlier today, both the NDA and INDIA bloc MPs had staged a protest in Parliament premises, when a scuffle broke out between the two sides, injuring two BJP MPs.
BJP MP Sarangi was rushed for treatment in an ambulance.
Both the MPs were admitted to Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Meanwhile, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput continue to be admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after they suffered injuries during the chaos outside Parliament on Thursday.
Stating the current health condition of injured BJP MPs, RML MS Dr Ajay Shukla said that both the MPs had head injuries and the doctors have been evaluating them.
"Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput had head injuries. Both have been given medication. Rajput ji's blood pressure is still high. We are doing our best possible. Sarangi ji is an elderly person, and when there is pushing and shoving, the BP could shoot up. This could lead to a heart arrest or stroke. Sarangi ji had been a cardiac patient. We are evaluating the situation," said RML MS Dr. Ajay Shukla.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who met the two MPs in the hospital said the MPs would remain hospitalised for two more days."Two of our MPs - Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput are admitted to RML Hospital and I came to know about their condition. Pratap Sarangi has two stitches on his head and Mukesh Rajput also has a head injury. Both are stable. Doctors say that they will have to remain hospitalized for 2 or more days. Such incidents should not happen in a democracy," he said. (ANI)
