ISIS module case: NIA conduct searches in Tamil Nadu, Kerala

Kochi (Kerala), Aug. 4(ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing into Kerala-based ISIS module case, conducted searches at two locations in Coimbatore and one place in Alappuzha in Kerala on Thursday.

ISIS module case: NIA conduct searches in Tamil Nadu, Kerala
Kochi (Kerala), Aug. 4(ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing into Kerala-based ISIS module case, conducted searches at two locations in Coimbatore and one place in Alappuzha in Kerala on Thursday. During the searches, 10 mobile phones, four laptops, two hard disks, a pen drive, 77 DVDs/ CDs, 3 memory cards, 16 SIM cards besides documents including books, diaries and manuscripts were seized by the NIA investigators. The seized material objects have been submitted before the special court to forward the digital devices for forensic examination. Following searches, the suspected individuals were lawfully summoned and are being examined by the NIA investigators. During examination, two of the suspects have disclosed that they were radicalized through speeches of preachers like Zakir Naik and Anwar Al-Awlaki. They accused have admitted that they were following various ISIS groups or channels in social media and have also disseminated pro-ISIS propaganda while they were in contact with absconding accused persons in NIA cases, including INTERPOL Red Notice subject and charge-sheeted accused Abdul Rashid Abdulla in NIA case. Abdul Rashid Abdulla alias Abu Isa Al-Hindi has been radicalizing them on the ideology of ISIS and urging them to perform hijra to join and support the terrorist organization in the Islamic Caliphate. On March 29, the charge-sheet was filed in the case under sections 120B, 121 and 122 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides sections 17, 18, 18B, 20, 38, 39 and 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against six arrested accused persons besides absconding accused Shajeer Mangalassery alias Abu Ayisha, who, while being outside India, had hatched the criminal conspiracy and formed the terrorist gang, in this case.
