Patna (Bihar) [India], September 4 (ANI): BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday strongly condemned the derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra event in Darbhanga,
Speaking to ANI, the BJP MP condemned the act and called it very "shameful". "It is very shameful that PM Modi's late mother was abused and they have not apologised till now. I want to tell Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav that if someone from our party had used this kind of language, we would have taken strict action against him," Prasad said.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) observed a five-hour Bihar Bandh in protest of the remarks, with workers protesting in Patna. The bandh was a show of solidarity with PM Modi and a strong message against the opposition's alleged disrespect.
"Is this your culture? This is your shamelessness! ...We condemn this," he added.
While sitting in the protest, holding a banner, Prasad said that respecting one's mother is an Indian tradition that everyone observes.

"But a mother who went to heaven and came from poverty, educated her child who became the Prime Minister; abusing her is highly condemnable...Rahul Gandhi will say and do anything, Tejashwi also has the same attitude, the people of Bihar will answer this," he added.
The controversy comes ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, expected to be held in October or November. The elections are likely to be a crucial test for both the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan alliance, with each side vying for power and seeking to win over voters.
Moreover, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal also attended the protest and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly abusing PM Modi and his mother.

"Some days ago, from the stage of the INDI alliance, PM Modi's late mother was abused. Today, NDA is observing a five-hour Bihar Bandh against the derogatory remarks against PM Modi's late mother. Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav should apologise to the nation," Jaiswal said to ANI.
Meanwhile, cadres of the BJP are staging protests in various parts of the state. On Thursday, Bihar Minister Krishna Kumar Mantoo sought legal action against the Opposition leaders who allegedly abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra.
Speaking to reporters, Mantoo said that the Prime Minister is not an ordinary person, but rather the Prime Minister of the entire state of Bihar. "Whoever speaks wrongly about him or his mother should face strict legal action," he added.
"Bihar Bandh has been imposed for the people of other mindsets who are troubling all these people; the people of the opposition are promoting whatever is right or wrong; the people of Bihar will answer them," Mantoo further added.
On Tejaswi Yadav's refuting abuse allegations yesterday, Mantoo said, "Whoever speaks wrongly like this, action should be taken against him...Abusing the Prime Minister and his mother is highly condemnable." Yadav further added that the protest will be implemented peacefully.
Moreover, Krishna Kumar Singh, a BJP Bihar state working committee member, while attending the protest in Bihar, said to ANI, "During the voter rights yatra, Rahul Gandhi abused PM Modi and his mother very badly, which is completely inappropriate. The nation should respect the mother of the Prime Minister of India. Because it is the same mother who gave birth to this son, who has made India's name famous all over the world."
Singh further sought forgiveness from the Opposition leaders and added, "Otherwise the country will never forgive them."
Meanwhile, earlier today, BJP MLC Sanjay Mayukh, while participating in the protest, slammed Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, stating that the people of Bihar will give them a befitting reply.
"The mothers and sisters of Bihar are participating in the Bandh called by NDA over the derogatory remarks against PM Modi's late mother at a Mahagathbandhan event in Bihar. You cannot run away after abusing. The public of Bihar will give a befitting reply to Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav," Mayukh told ANI.
Earlier, BJP workers protested in Bihar's Gaya and Danapur. Following the announcement, Janata Dal (United) leader Umesh Kushwaha said, "During the opposition's rally in Darbhanga, abusive words were used against Prime Minister Modi and his mother. This is wrong, both morally and politically."
"Using such language is highly inappropriate, and so far, the Mahagathbandhan leaders have not apologised. This shows how arrogant they are. They have insulted our mothers and sisters, and now we will retaliate. Therefore, the NDA has called for a Bihar bandh, and the women's wing will hold protests across Bihar," he said. (ANI)
