"Is he a real Hindu? ": TMC's Kalyan Banerjee slams Suvendu Adhikari's 'fake Hindus' remark

Speaking to media persons, Banerjee said, "Is he a real Hindu? According to the BJP's Hinduism, all the Hindus of West Bengal who follow the Hindus of Gujarat, the Hindus of Uttar Pradesh, eat veg and say Jai Shree Ram are Santani Hindus. Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 27 (ANI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kalyan Banerjee on Sunday slammed BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari for his "fake Hindu" remark, saying that BJP only consider those who chant Jai Shree Ram Hindu.
According to them, any Hindu who says Jai Shree Ram is a Hindu."
Banerjee's remarks came after West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was a fake Hindu.
Adhikari also blamed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the 'migration' of Hindu families from Murshidabad.
Speaking to ANI on Sunday, Adhikari said, "Mamata Banerjee is a fake Hindu. Do not mislead Hindu people. The Hindus make Hindu temples. Mamata Banerjee is anti-Hindu. Because of her, the Hindu people of Murshidabad are migrating from here."
Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh also responded to Adhikari 's remarks, saying Mamata Banerjee belongs to a 'Brahmin Hindu' community and respects all religions.
He further noted that Adhikari, his father, and his brother had been with Mamata for many years, but did not think like this during those days.
"Mamata Banerjee belongs to a Brahmin Hindu family and she is secular; she respects other religions. Suvendu Adhikari, his father and his brother were with Mamata Banerjee for so many days. Suvendu Adhikari was an MLA, MP and a minister from TMC, but he did not think about all this back then," Kunal Ghosh told ANI.
Violence erupted on April 11 in Murshidabad during a protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. The violence resulted in two deaths, several injuries, and property damage. Thousands of people fled their homes in search of safety.
The protest later spread to other districts, including Malda, South 24 Parganas, and Hooghly, where incidents of arson, stone-pelting, and road blockades were reported. (ANI)
