IPS, IAS officers work as 'stooges' of political parties: Tollywood actor Mohan Babu

The West Bengal government on Thursday provided officers of requisite seniority for being appointed as Returning Officers for the forthcoming Assembly Elections, on the insistence of the Election Commission of India.

During the meeting, CM Yadav raised various issues related to agriculture and rural development in the state. Following the discussion, several farmer-centric decisions were taken that are expected to provide major relief to farmers across the state, according to an official release.

The Delhi High Court judge, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, on Thursday recused from hearing the bail pleas of Sukesh Chandrasekhar's wife, actor Leena Maria Paul, and other accused in the Rs 200 crore extortion and connected money laundering case, which has been pending since 2024.

Former IPS officer RN Ravi takes oath as the Governor of West Bengal at a ceremony in Lok Bhawan on Thursday in Kolkata. He was administered the oath by Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Paul, in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, Senior Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim and Left Front chairman Biman Bose. Speaking to ANI in Mandi on Monday, Markandeya said that discussions were underway with several political leaders as well as retired administrative officers who are willing to join the proposed political platform.
