Infighting in Cong escalates post humiliating defeat in UP
New Delhi [India], Mar. 16 (ANI): The infighting in the Congress escalated on Thursday with Uttar Pradesh leader Naseeb Pathan putting the onus on senior party colleague Ghulam Nabi Azad for the dismal show in Uttar Pradesh and demanded the former to resign from his post. "Ghulam Nabi Azab misled the Congress Party. He is responsible for the loss in the assembly elections and should resign from his post. He has humiliated the Congress workers," Pathan told ANI. Pathan said that Azad should take some inspiration from B.K. Hariprasad and vacate his post. "20 Samajwadi Party leaders were contesting the elections from Congress Party's seat. What kind of alliance was this? If we would have contested elections on all the 403 legislative seats of Uttar Pradesh, we would have been there in opposition," he said. The BJP witnessed an unprecedented victory with 321 seats in the assembly elections contested for 403 seats, while the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance bagged 54, the BSP got 19 and others bagged 18 seats respectively.
