The Chief Guest of the program flagged off the bike yatra from Varanasi to his birthplace, Vadnagar, organised at Rudraksh International Cooperation and Conference Centre, Sigra, on Thursday. The Supreme Court on Thursday sought the Centre’s response on a plea seeking the return of a West Bengal woman who was allegedly detained in Mumbai and pushed into Bangladesh after her name was deleted from the electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The petitioners have maintained that students in Tamil Nadu should also have access to the education provided through Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The Supreme Court on Thursday permitted the Delhi Forest Department to remove invasive tree species from the Central Ridge, subject to strict compliance with the approved Delhi Eco-Restoration Plan 2026-30 and oversight by the Delhi Ridge Management Board. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant also stayed contempt proceedings initiated by the Delhi High Court over alleged violations of its directions concerning construction, clearing, excavation and tree removal in the Ridge.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday urged his counterparts in Ladakh to seek written assurances from the Centre on their demands, citing the pending restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir despite earlier verbal commitments.
