Indian Army personnel set two new world records in motorcycle riding
Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Sept.11 (ANI): Two Indian Army personnel have created world records for the longest motorcycle riding on a two-wheeler seat and handle bar. Captain Manpreet Singh created the world record for the 'longest continuous ride standing on the seat of a motorcycle' for 75.2 kilometers within the duration of 2 hours 24 minutes and 12 seconds. The previous world record of 32.3 kilometers is held by Ratnesh Pandey from Indore. Singh said his initial target was to complete 35 kilometers, but after completing the feat, he decided to ride up to 75 kilometers. "Initially, I was concentrating to complete 32 kilometers. Once the target was achieved, I was enjoying my ride and kept on listening to and humming the songs I have been listening all the way," said Singh. Meanwhile, Havildar, Sandeep Kumar achieved a world record for handle bar riding on a motorcycle by covering a distance of 46.9 kilometers in 1 hour 27 minutes and 31 seconds. "I kept on thinking that I have been preparing for this record for the past one year. It is difficult to ride a motorbike and balance it while sitting on its handle. Otherwise, I had covered 70 kilometers during my practice sessions. After completing 47 kilometers on a turn, I got imbalanced and touched the handle. But the aim I had decided, I worked dedicatedly on it," said Kumar. The Indian Army said the final certification was awaited and proposed that it would be published in the next editions of respective books. (ANI)
