India, Pakistan must restore peace in Kashmir Valley: Farooq Abdullah
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Oct. 14 (ANI): Furious over the prolonged 98 days long unrest in the Kashmir valley, the National Conference President and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Friday said India and Pakistan both need to restore peace in Kashmir. "We are concerned about peace, whether surgical strike took place or not, I am not here to say about that. I am only interested in that India and Pakistan must sit down at the table and try and settle their problem," Abdullah told here. He said peace can be restored in the valley only through the political process. Quoting former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statement Abdullah said that, "since ' we can't choose our neigbours', so we have to talk to Pakistan, there is no other option." Earlier, Abdullah convened an all-party meeting over Kashmir and discussed the prevailing situation in the valley which has crippled normal life for more than three months. Normal life in Kashmir has been affected due to protests and clashes after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8. (ANI)
