India, Pak security forces exchange sweets on Eid al-Adha
Jammu (JK) [India], Sept. 13 (ANI): Putting aside the ongoing hostilities between the two countries, Indian and Pakistani security forces on Tuesday exchanged sweets at various border points on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. While the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistani Rangers, border forces greeted each other at Attari-Wagah border, Indian Army representatives and Pakistani representatives exchanged sweets at Poonch - Rawalakot crossing point and Tattapani - Mendhar crossing point in Krishna Ghati Sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Border Security Force (BSF) Commandant, Sudeep at the Attari-Wagah border said that sweets were exchanged between the two nations. "On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets with the BSF of India, and we also wished them on the occasion," said Sudeep. The exchange of sweets is an appreciated gesture from both the countries and is a regular event on the occasions of festivals. The tradition has been followed for years now and is a testimony of goodwill to strengthen the efforts towards maintaining peace and tranquility along Line of Control. However, with unseen ceasefire violations by Pakistan has on several occasions hampered the customary ritual. Eid al-Adha, or the 'festival of sacrifice', marks the end of the Haj (pilgrimage) season. The festival is said to coincide with the anniversary of the day when the Quran, the holy book of Islam, was declared complete. (ANI)
