India not ready for 'big change' like demonetisation, says Amar Singh
New Delhi [India], Nov. 21 (ANI): Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh on Monday asserted that a diverse country like India is not ready for such a 'big change' like demonetisation. Taking a stand contrary to his party's official line on the Centre's demonetisation move, Singh said there is no better thing than a note ban. "But the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should realize that there is a big loop hole, this is not Hong Kong, Singapore, or England; this is a very big country. In this country, even the people living in south do not speak one language. In a country where there is so much diversity, many people have no information about ATMs. I believe that the country is not ready for such a big change," he said. Carrying forward her protest against demonetisation, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she would protest on the roads of Delhi tomorrow to voice her concerns against the ban. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo also made it clear that she had no personal interest and was doing this for the sake of the nation. Training her guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the TMC chief also lambasted the government for lack of planning prior to implementation of demonetisation. Mamata further stated that the lower middle class, traders, daily wage workers and housewives are the worst affected by the demonetisation. Prime Minister Modi had on Sunday responded to her criticism by saying "those who looted poor through a chit fund scam are today questioning Centre." (ANI)
