"INDIA bloc is standing tall," says Digvijaya Singh

Voting for the fifth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024 began on Monday morning across 49 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs) amid tight security and arrangements.

Patna (Bihar) [India], May 20 (ANI): Congress leader, Digvijaya Singh claimed that the INDIA bloc is standing tall and the youth, Dalit and farmers have come out in "large numbers to stand and oppose" the BJP.
"I have witnessed in Uttar Pradesh. INDIA bloc is standing tall. And the youth, Dalit, poor and farmers are coming out in large numbers to stand and oppose the BJP," Singh told ANI in Patna on Monday.
Congress and the Samajwadi Party are jointly contesting the elections in Uttar Pradesh. As per the agreement, Congress is contesting 17 seats while SP 63.
On Home Minister Amit Shah claiming to have achieved 270 seats so far in four phases of voting and crossed over 400 seats in the subsequent phases, the Congress veteran said, " Amit Shah ji....I do not know whether it is a Jumla or a fact. But he has repeatedly used the Jumla word".
On the allegations of "appeasement politics", the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister said, "They (BJP) are lying. You (media) must have read the (Congress) election manifesto. You are well-educated".
Digvijaya Singh, who represented Rajgarh in Parliament back in the 1980s and early 90s, is returning to his home turf after three decades in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, in what he calls as his "last election".
He is up against BJP's Rodmal Nagar in the 2024 general elections.
Lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh were conducted in four phases. The first phase of polling was held on April 19, the second phase took place on April 26, the third phase on May 7 and the fourth phase of polling concluded on May 13.
With 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, Madhya Pradesh ranks sixth among all states in terms of its representation in the Lower House. Of these, 10 seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates, while the remaining 19 are unreserved
Voting for the fifth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024 is underway across 49 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs) amid tight security and arrangements.
The Lok Sabha elections are being held across seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The counting is scheduled for June 4.
The Narendra Modi-led BJP is seeking a third term in power, while the opposition INDIA bloc is aiming to wrest power by stopping the juggernaut. (ANI)
