Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 2 (ANI): Exuding confidence in winning the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Monday attacked the INDIA bloc and said that the alliance has no future.
"Even before the Lok Sabha elections, they (INDIA alliance) had a meeting to stop Narendra Modi from becoming the Prime Minister, but Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister for the third time... Their alliance broke in the Haryana elections... They were wiped out in Maharashtra. BJP's lotus will bloom in the Delhi Assembly elections too and BJP government will be formed... INDIA bloc has no future," Keshav Prasad Maurya said.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders held a meeting for the upcoming assembly election in the national capital on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and other leaders were present in the meeting.
On Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that there will be no alliance in the national capital.
"There will be no alliance in Delhi (for assembly elections)," Kejriwal said while addressing a press conference.
Meawnwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shazia Ilmi launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following the arrest of MLA Naresh Balyan, saying the party's "corrupt nature" has been exposed.
Speaking to ANI, Ilmi said, "The corrupt nature of this party (AAP) has now been exposed. He (Naresh Balyan) has been MLA of Uttamnagar for 10 years. You should go and ask about his reputation there...Their (AAP's) nature is being exposed now. As soon as they (AAP) got the information that Naresh Balyan would be arrested, they scheduled a press conference."
"Now they are talking about the increasing crime rate in Delhi. As soon as Naresh Balyan was exposed, they remembered everything. They are very clever people. They only know how to conspire against others," she added.
Her remarks came after Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court remanded Balyan to two days of police custody in connection with an extortion case.
Earlier on November 21, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released the first list of 11 candidates for the assembly elections in Delhi, which are expected to be held in early 2025.
The assembly elections in Delhi are likely to be held in early 2025. However, the Election Commission is yet to announce the dates. The last Assembly elections in Delhi were held in February 2015.
In the 2015 assembly polls, the AAP secured an absolute majority and won 62 seats out of 70. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to win just 8 seats while Congress struggled to open their account. (ANI)
