India, B'desh to work together on 1971 liberation documentary
New Delhi, Aug 17 (ANI): India and Bangladesh on Wednesday decided to work together on a documentary on the 1971 Bangladesh liberation besides agreeing to scale up cooperation in the information sector. This came after Bangladesh Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu called on his Indian counterpart M. Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi this morning. Briefing the media after the meeting, Naidu said the All India Radio (AIR) is launching Maitree Channel on August 23 that will showcase Bangla culture and heritage. "We have also decided to exchange cultural delegations and have also decided to work together to go for a documentary on the 1971 Bangladesh liberation. There is a suggestion from the Bangladesh side to have a feature film on the life of the great Bangla Bondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ji. That also India has agreed to cooperate with Bangladesh," Naidu said. Naidu said India has requested Bangladesh to allow the screening of Indian films. "Bangladesh said they will be examining that request made by us and get back. Meanwhile, there is good news for Bangladesh that AIR is launching Maitree Channel on 23rd of this month. It will be launched by the honourable President Pranab Mukherjee. This is a part of the initiative taken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our government as a gesture of friendship towards our bangla people," he added. Cherishing the memories of great culture and common heritage between both sides, Naidu said India has decided to work together for the betterment of both regions. "We will have number of exchanges of journalists, exchange of civil servants, exchange of literature programmes and also join workshops for the betterment of both regions," he added. (ANI)
