Patna (Bihar) [India], August 29 (ANI): Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan on Tuesday asked why is the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar meeting leaders of opposition parties if he doesn't have any prime ministerial ambitions.
He said that Nitish Kumar is attempting to establish himself at the Centre.
He said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be fearing the apprehensions of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and its President Mallikarjun Kharge being elevated to the top echelons of the INDIA bloc.
"He will be fearing whether Rahul Gandhi will be assigned more responsibility. CM Nitish Kumar will not like to work under their leadership", Paswan said.
He said top leaders from Opposition parties having Prime Ministerial ambitions will also be sharing the stage during the third Opposition meeting in Mumbai. "They will be aware of the intentions of Nitish Kumar".
"As Congress starts to assert itself, as soon as the influence of Congress spreads in the INDIA bloc, it will lead to restlessness of its allies," Paswan added.
He said that the Aam Admi Party had started to distance itself from the INDIA bloc days after a statement from one of the leaders of the Congress concerning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Nitish Kumar reiterated that he has no prime ministerial ambitions but will lead the opposition's efforts to fight against the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
A total of 26 to 27 parties are likely to participate in the third meeting of the newly formed opposition alliance in Mumbai.
The INDIA alliance members are scheduled to hold a joint meeting on September 1 in Mumbai. The meeting will discuss the alliance strategies for the Lok Sabha election and the seat sharing in the states. A new logo of the INDIA alliance is also likely to be launched.
INDIA or ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ is a group of 26 opposition parties, including the Congress.
The parties have come together to take on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is led by PM Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and prevent it from winning a third straight term at the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The first meeting of the joint opposition convened in Patna on June 23 and the second meeting was held in Bengaluru on July 17-18. The third meeting is slated to be in Mumbai on August 31-September 1  (ANI)
