Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 4 (ANI): Senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad expressed shock and grief over the tragic stampede during the RCB cricket team's victory parade in Bengaluru, which claimed 11 lives.
He urged the government to ensure immediate and appropriate medical treatment for the injured, noting that some are in serious condition.
"The incident in which more than 11 people, including women, died in a stampede during the RCB cricket team's victory parade in Bengaluru is extremely shocking and regrettable. The condition of some of the injured in the stampede is serious, and the government should take immediate action to provide them with appropriate treatment," he said.
Extending his condolences, he added, "My heartfelt condolences to the deceased and their families."
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condoled the loss of lives in a stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) IPL winning celebrations.
In a post on X, Siddaramaiah said, "It is with great shock that we heard the news that several people lost their lives and others were seriously injured in a stampede during the RCB team's victory celebrations at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pain of this tragedy has even erased the joy of victory."
"May the souls of the deceased rest in peace, and may those injured and those undergoing treatment in the hospital recover as soon as possible. My condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones," he added.
The Karnataka CM mentioned that the RCB team was not allowed to march in the victory parade in anticipation of an "unpleasant incident" that could occur due to a stampede.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will visit the hospital to meet the victims of a stampede that occurred during a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebration event. A massive crowd gathered outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
He confirmed coordinating with the Police Commissioner to manage the situation and ensure minimal disturbance to medical staff. Shivakumar refrained from confirming the exact number of casualties, urging the public to remain calm and noting that the event was curtailed to 10 minutes to control the situation.
"I have spoken to the Police Commissioner and everyone. I will also go to the hospital later. I do not want to disturb the doctors who are taking care of the patients. The exact number cannot be told now. We appeal to the people to remain calm. We shortened the program. The program ended within 10 minutes. We are trying to make everything normal...Lakhs of people came," he said.
RCB finally ended an 18-year wait for the coveted IPL trophy, defeating Punjab Kings by six wickets in the finals of IPL 2025, held on Tuesday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. (ANI)
