Imphal: Students' bid to storm CM bungalow foiled, many injured
Imphal (Manipur) [India], Sept. 10 (ANI): Several students from different schools of Imphal sustained injuries after police foiled their bid to storm the chief minister's bungalow in Kwakeithel Bazaar on Saturday. A large number of students from the Imphal College, MEMs Higher Secondary School, Ghari, COMET School, Changangei tried to storm the premises on the initiative of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), Students Wing, demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur. They raised a number of slogans and called on the state government to introduce a new mechanism to save the indigenous people of the state. Left with no other choice, police personnel fired several rounds of tear gas shells and smoke bombs to disperse the agitating students. The students shouted slogans like "Enforce ILPS in Manipur", "Convene Assembly again and pass a fresh Bill", "Save indigenous peoples of Manipur" etc. (ANI)
