Gurdaspur (Punjab) [India], May 11 (ANI): Actor-turned-politician and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate Sunny Deol on Saturday said he came to Gurdaspur to meet his voters and make them believe that he was willing to serve them.
"I have come here to stay, to be among and with them as I intend to do in the future too. That is the confidence I want to give them. Some have a misconception that I will leave after winning the election, I want to remove that doubt completely. I want to serve the people," Deol said talking to reporters at a road show here.
Deol also said his father, veteran actor Dharmendra, was concerned about him but he also had full faith in the fact that the people of Gurdaspur would welcome and love him.
"My father just like any other father is concerned about his son. He, however, has full faith in the fact the people will welcome me and talk to me with an open heart," he said.
He was conducting a road show in his parliamentary constituency where he also talked and shook hands with the people. Deol is contesting against Congress leader and sitting MP Sunil Jakhar from Gurdaspur.
Punjab will see polling for all 13 parliamentary seats on May 19 in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The counting of votes will begin on May 23. (ANI)
