Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 23 (ANI): Taking a jibe at Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Lal on Thursday said that if the Mahagathbandhan has declared Yadav as their CM face, then their defeat in the Bihar Assembly polls is inevitable.
Earlier today, in a joint press conference, the Mahagathbandhan announced RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Vikassheel Insaan Party convenor Mukesh Sahani as their CM and Deputy CM faces for the Bihar polls.
Brij Lal stated that he would want Tejashwi Yadav to become the opposition alliance's CM candidate as he is taking forward the tag of RJD supremo Lalu Yadav's "fodder scam tag".
"If Tejashwi Yadav has been made the face, then the defeat of the Mahagathbandhan is certain. I would want Tejashwi Yadav to become the Chief Ministerial face because he carries the tag of Lalu Yadav's fodder scam," Brij Lal told ANI.
The BJP MP also stressed that if Tejashwi Yadav is Mahagathbandhan's Chief Ministerial candidate, then the alliance will be wiped out in the Bihar elections.
"If Tejashwi Yadav becomes the Chief Ministerial face, then from today itself, the Mahagathbandhan, including RJD, will be wiped out there (in Bihar)... No person from Bihar who has seen jungle raj or corruption would want this," Lal added.
Earlier today, Congress leader Pawan Khera stated that every section of society will be given equal representation if the Mahagathbandhan government is formed in Bihar.
This comes after he was asked about the possibility of Congress nominating a Deputy CM candidate from its ranks.
Khera also asked about the CM face of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), questioning why they did not hold a joint press conference like the Mahagathbandhan did.
"Every section of society will definitely get representation, and appropriate representation will be given. Let us first register the victory. All parties (of the Mahagathbandhan) have released their lists, but has the NDA held any joint press conference or have they shown their chief ministerial face?" Pawan Khera questioned.
The 2025 Bihar elections will have the main contest between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. NDA includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
Mahagathbandhan, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal, includes Congress party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Mukesh Sahani's Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).
Additionally, Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has staked claims to all 243 seats in the state.
The Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The results will be declared on November 14. (ANI)
