"If people of Ayodhya were happy with their work, would have elected BJP MP": SP's Iqra Hasan on Yogi's remarks

Earlier today, addressing the Ramayan Mela's opening ceremony at Ayodhya's Ram Katha Park, CM Yogi Adityanath called upon the people to draw inspiration from the life of Lord Ram and recalled the efforts behind the building of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

New Delhi [India], December 5 (ANI): After Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's remarks, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Iqra Hasan said on Thursday that in Ayodhya (Milkipur seat), the BJP did not let elections be contested because they were scared of their defeat and if the people were happy with their work, they would have elected a BJP MP in the Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking to ANI, Hasan said, "Our family is PDA, and PDA defeated the BJP in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections. We will continue to strongly oppose the dictatorship of the BJP. In Ayodhya, they avoided elections because they were scared of losing. If the people of Ayodhya were happy with their work, they would have chosen a BJP MP."
On October 16, the Election Commission postponed the election for the Milkipur seat, an Assembly seat in the Ayodhya district due to a pending election petition. However, the Lucknow Bench of the High Court dismissed a writ petition concerning the seat, paving the way for the election to proceed.
Earlier today, at the opening ceremony of the Ramayan Mela at Ayodhya's Ram Katha Park, CM Yogi Adityanath urged the public to draw inspiration from the life of Lord Ram and highlighted the efforts involved in building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
"Once again, Ayodhya is moving forward with a new identity as a spiritual and cultural global city. Remember how, in January this year, thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lord Ram was reinstated in the temple after five hundred years. Anyone who does not respect Lord Ram and Mata Janaki, no matter how close they are to you, should be treated as an adversary. That is why Ram devotees gave the slogan in 1990: 'Jo Ram ka nahi, humare kisi kaam ka nahi'," CM Yogi said.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Awadesh Prasad alleged that the BJP has deliberately caused disruptions in Parliament to prevent discussions on critical issues.
"The winter session is currently underway in the Lok Sabha, at a time when the nation faces inflation and unemployment. Farmers' issues remain unresolved. Our country is predominantly agrarian, with 80 per cent of people engaged in farming. Unless farmers prosper, the nation cannot prosper. Today, most farmers are struggling," Prasad said.
He also addressed the discontent among the youth regarding the Agniveer scheme, emphasising the need for a parliamentary discussion on the matter.
"There is no point in debating these issues elsewhere; they need to be addressed in Parliament. There have been widespread irregularities in these matters and in the recent by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, where people were prevented from voting. These are critical issues that could not be raised in the House because the BJP created disruptions to ensure Parliament does not function," the SP MP added. (ANI)
