“If Kamal Nath has special faith in religion, he should challenge Gandhi family to break alliance with DMK”: Union Minister Smriti Irani

“To show faith in the religion before the election, inviting a seer in Chhindwara and holding an event is not enough. If Kamal Nath has special faith in the religion then he should challenge the Gandhi family to drop the alliance with the DMK. Let me remind you that this is the same DMK party which was accused of killing former PM Rajiv Gandhi under the Congress leadership,” Irani said.

Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 16 (ANI): Union Minister Smriti Irani has taken a jibe at former Chief Minister Kamal Nath and said that if he has special faith in religion, then he should challenge the Gandhi family to break the alliance with the DMK
She made the remark while talking to the reporters in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district on Saturday.
When asked about contesting elections from Chhindwara, Irani said that Amethi was not the only constituency for her, when she contested elections from Amethi for the first time and 3 lakh people from there had given their trust to her by voting for her, how can she leave them.
Irani said, “After the arrival of BJP in Amethi, toilets were built in lakhs of houses. Electricity connections were provided to over three lakh houses. After the arrival of BJP, basic facilities for the public were developed in Amethi. The Gandhi family had kept Amethi only as a place for their political use.”
Congress's policy has been to make the poor poorer so that they find support in Congress. There is a similarity between Chhindwara and Amethi for her that the medical colleges in both places have been given by the BJP government, she said.
“I have full confidence that the people of Chhindwara will definitely give their blessings to BJP and BJP government will be formed again in the state and in the centre,” the union minister said.
Before the BJP government came to power in Madhya Pradesh, the idea of development in the state was meaningless. There were no roads and even if there was, it was in a dilapidated condition. There were no health facilities, there was a poor education system and poverty in the state. Prosperity was a dream for the farmers. Ever since Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the Chief Minister of the state, girls have become Ladli Lakshmi, now even women become Ladli. Respect for women has increased in the state. A network of roads was laid in the state. Prosperity is no longer a dream for farmers, she added.
The union minister further said, “Ever since the BJP government came into power in the Center under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the country has moved on the path of development. G20 is an organisation of the world's largest economies, which is chaired by India. We will soon be among the countries with the third largest economy in the world.”
Earlier the G20 used to avoid the issue of women empowerment. Still many countries wanted to remove this issue from the meeting agenda, but due to India's adamance, the issue related to women was added for the first time and it was resolved to make a policy on women empowerment at the global level, she added.
