"If he doesn't consider them as reasonable voices...," BJP's Jaiveer Shergill slams Rahul Gandhi

"If Rahul Gandhi does not consider them as reasonable voices of the Congress party then it is his problem...At this juncture, the Opposition, especially the Congress party has missed a vital opportunity to rise above petty politics and laud India, as other world leaders are doing. The joke is on the Congress party," he added.

New Delhi [India], September 9 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill on Saturday took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over allegations of excluding Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge from the G20 dinner adding that the invitations were extended to prominent Congress figures and if he does not consider them as reasonable voices of the Congress party then it is his problem.
"Congress MP Rahul Gandhi should get his mathematics right. Congress got a 19.5 per cent vote share in the 2019 elections. Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu have been invited to the G20 dinner," Shergill told ANI.
In his remarks, Shergill suggested that if Rahul Gandhi does not consider these leaders as reasonable voices within the Congress party, it is his problem.
He further said that the way they are defaming the nation on foregin soil and the way they are indulging in petty politics rather than welcoming the guests.
On Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressing a press conference in Brussels, also criticised the Government for not inviting its senior leader and Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge.
“What is contrary about it? They have decided not to invite the Leader of the Opposition. It tells you something. It tells you that they don't value the Leader of 60 per cent of India's population. It's something that people should think about - why they are feeling the need to do that and what is the type of thinking that goes behind that" said Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress MP is on a tour of Europe organised by the Indian Overseas Congress
President Droupadi Murmu will host a dinner today for the G20 Summit in New Delhi on Saturday at the hall of Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the summit. Among those invited for the dinner include former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh, HD Deve Gowda and various chief ministers of different states.
India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 last year and about 200 meetings related to G20 were organized in 60 cities across the country. The 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi is a culmination of all the G20 processes and meetings held throughout the year. (ANI)
