Surat (Gujarat) [India], September 1 (ANI): Gujarat BJP President CR Patil, while speaking on  'One Nation, One Election’, said that if everyone comes together, it will be good for the country.
Speaking to ANI, he further said that he hoped the report of the committee formed under former President Ram Nath Kovind to explore the possibility of 'One Nation, One Election' would be accepted by all.
"PM Modi has stated the merits of 'One Nation, One Election. Due to the many elections, there is a lot of expenditure. Due to the imposition of a model code of conduct during elections, development work suffers. I hope the report of the committee formed under former President Ram Nath Kovind will be accepted by all. The opposition feels it should protest against it. They can give their suggestions, not just protest. I believe that if everyone comes together, it will be good for the country," he said.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Party President CP Joshi on Friday, speaking about 'One Nation, One Election', said that the people of the country had been demanding it for a long time.
"Although the committee has been set up now, the people of the country have been demanding it for a long time in the national interest", Joshi said while speaking to ANI.
The Union government on Friday constituted a committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind to explore the possibility of 'One Nation, One Election'. Notably, this development has come a day after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Thursday called a special five-day session of Parliament starting on September 18 to September 22.
The move has only added to the already heated politics as a meeting of opposition leaders from 28 parties is underway to decide on the agenda to take on the ruling BJP in the upcoming election. Leaders of several political parties have reacted to the centre's move. (ANI)
