Etawah (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 20 (ANI): Targeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over his "batenge to katenge" slogan, Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav said on Wednesday that If the CM of a state thinks that they can win elections by speaking such things, then he didn't learn any lesson from Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav also exuded confidence that trends will be in the favour of Samajwadi Party.
"BJP can't win even one seat through honesty. People are tired of them. Law and order has collapsed. Due to divisive policies, everyone is sad...But if the CM of a state thinks that they will win elections by speaking such things, then he didn't learn any lesson from Lok Sabha elections...Trends will be in the favour of SP. We will win most of the seats," he said.
Speaking on Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly polls, Ram Gopal Yadav said that the INDIA bloc will win both the states.
"The slogan (batoge toh katoge) has ousted BJP from Maharashtra, it won't work," he said.
The slogan 'Batenge to Katenge', coined by UP CM Yogi Adityanath as a call for Hindu unity, has been widely criticised by opposition leaders for allegedly carrying communal undertones.
The slogan has sparked a war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition parties, with critics arguing it promotes intolerance, while supporters interpret it as a call to resist forces seeking to divide society.
Meanwhile, voting is underway for the by-elections in 15 Assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand on Wednesday.
Nine seats in Uttar Pradesh--Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Sishamau, Phulpur, Katehari, and Majhawan--are up for by-polls.
The by-elections in Uttar Pradesh are significant for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which suffered a major setback in the state, winning only 36 out of 80 seats in the last general elections. (ANI)
