Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], December 27 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and Rajya Sabah MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar has taken a dig at Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy over the conduct of the 47-day long sports festival in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur.
Kumar said, "If the chief minister is interested in the youth, why is he silent on the growing unemployment rate."
Jagan Mohan Reddy initiated the 47-day sports festival Aadudam Andhra at the Loyola Public School grounds at Nallapadu in Guntur district on 26th December. During the launch, the chief minister stated that Aadudam Andhra is to help and benefit the youth.
Meanwhile, the TDP MP said, "If the chief minister is interested in the youth, why is he silent on the growing unemployment rate?"
He further questioned Jagan Reddy as to why he did not take measures to stop the industrial decline in Andhra Pradesh.
"The youth have been suffering, taking their own lives as they don't have access to basic survival requirements under the misrule of Jagan Reddy government," he added.
"During the TDP regime, the chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu allotted 0.18% of the budget for sports development while Jagan Reddy allocated only 0.09%. Just before 3 months before his tenure ends he has initiated Aadudam Andhra. It is 'Andhra Tho Adukovadam' i.e. to play with the people and the youth of Andhra Pradesh", he added.
The leader assured that once the TDP government is formed in the state, more employment and self-employment opportunities will be generated for the youth. (ANI)
