Hanumakonda (Telangana) [India], November 27 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while campaigning for his party in Telangana said that If Bharatiya Janata Party comes in power then the CM will be from the backward class.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said "When KCR had agitated for Telangana, he had said that the CM here would be from backward class but it did not happen. This is our promise that when BJP government will be formed, the CM will be from the backward class. Madiga community was demanding justice for so long. PM Modi has assured the Madiga community that we will give justice to the Madigas by doing categorization in the scheduled caste system."
"BJP government will be formed in Telangana," he asserted.
A day after instructing officials to expedite the committee formation for a reservation to the Madiga community, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that his government is committed to "ending the injustice done" to the community.
PM Modi in a public address in poll-bound Telangana's Kamareddy said, "...BJP understands the injustice done to the Madiga community. The Government of India is committed to ending this injustice and a committee is being formed to expedite the process..."
PM Modi also mentioned that he held a meeting with officials over the issue in the National Capital a day ago.
"I have come from Assam which is 3000 km away from Telangana. I want to say two things about Assam. The price of petrol in Telangana is Rs 110 per liter and in Assam it is only Rs 97. BJP in Uttar Pradesh, BJP in Haryana, wherever our party is, the price of petrol is only Rs 97-98. So you people tell me whether BRS government is good or BJP government," Himanta Biswa Sarma added.
"If BJP government is formed in Telangana, we will work to reduce the petrol rate below Rs 100. Diesel rate here is also 5 rupees more than what is in Assam. The Government of KCR is picking your pockets," he added.
Telangana is set to undergo assembly elections on November 30, and the ruling BRS, Congress and BJP are the main contestants in the state. The counting of votes will take place on December 3.
In the previous Assembly election in the state in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats. (ANI)
