"I will be with Congress till my last breath": Digvijay Singh refutes claims of his resignation

New Delhi [India], October 15 (ANI): After a post purportedly showing his resignation letter from the party went viral on social media, senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on Sunday dismissed the claims saying that he will be his party till his 'last breath'.
Speaking to ANI, Singh also hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that the ruling party of Madhya Pradesh indulges in 'fake works'.
"BJP indulges in fake works. I entered Congress in 1971 and I will be with the party till my last breath," Singh said.
Notably, soon after the Congress Party released its first list of candidates for the MP assembly polls, a social media post went viral purportedly showing Digvijay Singh's resignation letter from the party.
The purported letter, addressed to party President Mallikarjun Kharge reads, "In my political journey of five decades, I had many experiences while being in Congress.... But for the last few months, I have been hurt to see the disappointment of the top leadership towards the dedicated workers, and indifference in policy and leadership. In Madhya Pradesh, instead of being a worker-centric party, the party has now become specific leader-centric. Because of this, I am finding myself uncomfortable."
The viral letter further claimed that Digvijay Singh was not happy after the party did not consider the names given by him in the selection of candidates for the Madhya Pradesh elections.
"My self-respect has been hurt by not giving preference to loyal workers. I have now reached a stage where I feel I can no longer live in such an unjust environment. I express my gratitude to all those who have supported me in my various party roles over the years. With a heavy heart, I announce my decision to end my association with the party. I resign from all posts including primary membership of Congress. Accept it," it added.
However, the Congress unit of the state has filed a complaint to the police against BJP spokesperson Hitesh Bajpayee for his attempt to 'tarnish' Digvijay Singh's image.
"Under the above-mentioned subject, it is requested that with the aim of tarnishing the image of the former Chief Minister of the state and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh Ji, BJP spokesperson Dr Hitesh Bajpayee has forged the letterhead of Digvijay Singh Ji from his Twitter (X) handle and forged his signature. A fake letter addressed to the National President of the Congress Party, Mallikarjun Kharge, regarding his resignation from all the posts of the Congress Party, was made viral on social media to defame the loyalty of the national leader of the Congress Party for years," the complaint by Congress leaders JP Dhanopia KK Mishra and PC Sharma said.
The Congress leaders also demanded quick action against the BJP spokesperson.
"Preparing forged documents in relation to defaming Digvijay Singhji, comes under the category of serious crime under the Technology Act, hence Section 66 of the Information and Technology Act should be registered against Hitesh Bajpayee and immediate action should be taken," the FIR said.
Meanwhile, speaking on the matter, Jaivardhan Singh, Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA and son of Digvijaya Singh said that his father has never demanded for ticket.
"He never demanded a ticket," he said, adding, "Congress will win, for the Government and Kamal Nath will become the Chief Minister."
He further exuded his confidence in the party winning at least 150 seats in the upcoming elections.
"I pity Shivraj Singh. When the BJP itself does not trust him, when BJP itself is not declaring him the CM face, you can understand the image among the people. Congress is with Kamal Nath and we will get at least 150 seats this time," Jaivardhan Singh added. (ANI)
