"I have to live up to that hope": BJP MLA-elect Maithili Thakur

Popular singer and Bharitya Janata Party (BJP) MLA-elect, Maithili Thakur on Thursday said that she is yet to take the oath but has started working after winning from Alinagar Assembly constituency in the Bihar Elections 2025.

Patna (Bihar) [India], November 27 (ANI): Popular singer and Bharitya Janata Party (BJP) MLA-elect, Maithili Thakur, on Thursday said that she is yet to take the oath but has started working after winning from Alinagar Assembly constituency in the Bihar Elections 2025.
"I have not taken the oath yet, but I have already started working... The public chooses their MLA with great hope, and now I have to live up to that hope... " she said.
While speaking on the issue of Special Intensive Revision (SIR), she said that she is focused on taking her assembly constituency forward.
"I do not want to say anything about the opposition... My job is to work, to take my assembly constituency forward..." she said.
Maithili Thakur (25) secured a victory from Alinagar Assembly constituency by a margin of 11,730 votes, becoming the youngest MLA in the state. She made her political debut in this assembly election, securing 84,915 votes and defeating RJD's veteran leader Binod Mishra (63), who received only 73,185 votes.
On November 14, the ruling NDA secured another term in Bihar, winning 202 seats and a three-fourths majority in the 243-member House.
This is the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-mark in the assembly polls. In the 2010 polls, it had won 206 seats.
In the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 89 seats, Janata Dal (United) won 85, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJPRV) won 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAMS) won five, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha won four seats.
In Mahagathbandhan, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won 25 seats, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) - CPI(ML) (L) - two, Indian Inclusive Party (IIP) -one and Communist Party of India (Marxist) - CPI(M) one seat. (ANI)
