"I am the senior-most," BJP's Anil VIj throws hat in ring for CM post in Haryana

As the polling for 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana is ongoing, BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt Assembly seat Anil Vij confidently states that the BJP will form the government in Haryana and hints at possibly becoming the Chief Minister, citing his seniority in the party.

Ambala (Haryana) [India], October 5 (ANI): As the polling for 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana is underway, BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt Assembly seat Anil Vij confidently stated that the BJP will form the government in Haryana and hinted at the possibility of becoming the Chief Minister, citing his seniority in the party.
BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt Assembly seat Anil Vij said, "...BJP will form its govt in Haryana. CM will be decided by the party if the party wants me, then our next meeting will be in the Chief Minister's residence. I am the senior most in the party..."
He further said the people of Ambala would vote for the BJP as the Lotus symbol was equated with peace.
"The people of Ambala want to stay peacefully, they do not want hooliganism back here...Peace means the symbol of lotus...BJP will form its government in Haryana...Kumari Selja is feeling suffocated in Congress, she is not being respected in the party...," he said.
Meanwhile, voting began for 90 assembly seats in Haryana on Saturday and saw a voter turnout of 9.53 per cent till 9 AM, the Election Commission of India said.
As per the data shared by the ECI, Jind recorded the highest poll percentage of 12.71 percent, followed by Palwal at 12.45 per cent, and Ambala 11. 87 per cent, Fatehabad 11.81 per cent, and Mahendragarh 11.51 per cent till 9 AM.
Faridabad recorded an 8.82 percent turnout, whereas Gurgaon had 6.10 percent, Hisar 8.49 percent, and Jhajjar 8.43 percent turnout till 9 AM. Voting in Haryana started at 7 am and will go till 6 pm.
A total of 1,031 candidates are contesting in all 90 assembly constituencies, and 20,632 polling booths have been set up for voting. The results for the Haryana Assembly elections will be declared along with those of Jammu and Kashmir on October 8.
The Chief Electoral Officer highlighted that a total of 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 home guards, and 10,403 Special Police Officers (SPO) have been deployed across the state. Strict surveillance will be maintained at every corner of the state to allow citizens to cast their votes without fear. (ANI)
