Hyderabad couple waits for daughter 'captive' in Pakistan
Hyderabad [India] May 8 (ANI): A Hyderabad couple's wait to meet their daughter Mohammadi Begum, who is being tortured by her husband in Pakistan, continues. Mohammadi Begum's father Mohammed Akber on Sunday told ANI that his daughter is living in a dilapidated condition in Sialkot, Pakistan. "Mohammadi Begum's husband beats her up daily and neither her husband, nor her children take care of her," said Akber. He said that he had spoken to the officials of Indian Embassy in Islamabad and "they said we are working continuously on your daughter's case, we are waiting for permission from Pakistan government to send Mohammadi Begum back to India". Mohammadi Begum's mother Hajera Begum told ANI that she had a conversation with her daughter on phone today in the morning, but she is not fine. "My daughter told me that she is not feeling well and has developed some health issues which need medical attention, but her husband is not taking her to a hospital," said tearful Hajera Begum. "My daughter wants to return India as soon as possible, and pleading for help to facilitate her reunion with us," she added. According to the couple, a Pakistani national Mohammed Younus had cheated their daughter and married her while working in Oman. "She was fraudulently taken to Pakistan on the pretext of shifting to Saudi Arabia. Now, our daughter has been held captive and is denied food and medicines," said the couple. The couple has appealed Indian government and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's intervention in the case. They have written twice to Swaraj seeking help (ANI)
