Patna (Bihar) [India], April 23 (ANI): RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday questioned as to how the terror attack incident happened in Pahalgam despite the region being in a high-security zone.
Yadav expressed deep sorrow and called for strong action to restore peace and safety in the region.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav, emphasising that such an attack on tourists is unprecedented in Jammu and Kashmir, urged the government and security agencies to act decisively while stressing the need for unity and non-politicisation of the issue.
"The incident that happened yesterday in Pahalgam, the way terrorists shot and killed many people. We are hurt by this incident. Before today, tourists had never been attacked in Jammu and Kashmir. We want the government, army, investigation agencies to act with full force and take whatever steps are needed to create a fear-free environment. But Pahalgam was already in a high-security zone. Despite this, how this incident happened, only the investigation agencies and the government will be able to tell. There should be no politics on this issue. The whole country stands together," he said.
"If terrorists have attacked innocent people, they should not be spared. Strict action should be taken against them," the RJD leader said.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday visited the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag to meet the injured victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed several lives and left others wounded.
Earlier today, Shah visited the affected area of Baisaran meadow where the attack took place. The Union Minister first took an aerial stock of the region as he arrived at the site by helicopter, descending onto the meadow now bearing the scars of violence.
This has been one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Following the terror attack, security forces have launched search operations on Wednesday to track down the terrorists responsible. (ANI)
