New Delhi [India], August 22 (ANI): Congress MP Manickam Tagore accused Union Minister Kiren Rijiju of spreading "fake news" and misinformation about Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
In a post on X, Tagore criticised Rijiju for sharing a video featuring a woman, claiming she was "lured" to attend a political event by Rahul Gandhi in Bihar.
Tagore labelled Rijiju's actions as a descent from a Union Cabinet Minister to a "common troll," accusing him of diverting attention from the "Vote Chori" allegations raised by Gandhi.
He further alleged that Rijiju was avoiding questions on the "Vote Chori" issue and instead posting "fake videos with misinformation" to undermine Gandhi's campaign.

Tagore's post stated, "Unparliamentary Affairs Minister @KirenRijiju is busy spreading fake news about the Leader of Opposition. From a Minister of the Union Cabinet to a common troll -- see how low he has stooped for cheap publicity. Instead of answering questions on Vote Chori and protecting democracy, Rijiju is posting fake videos with misinformation. This rattled response shows only one thing People's leader Rahul Gandhi's #VoteChori movement is shaking the Modi regime. Leader of Opposition @RahulGandhi is fighting to protect the voting rights of the poor, Dalits, OBCs, minorities and the marginalised. And the BJP's Minister behaves like a troll to divert attention. This is the level of fear in Modi Sarkar! #MinisterToTroll"
Meanwhile, earlier today, Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi arrived in Jamalpur on the sixth day of the 'Voter Adhikaar Yatra,' aimed at addressing concerns over alleged voter fraud.
The 16-day yatra is aimed at raising awareness about alleged irregularities in the voter list and what opposition leaders are calling a case of 'vote chori' (vote theft). Covering over 1,300 km across 20 districts, the yatra is scheduled to conclude in Patna on September 1.
The Yatra, continuing for the sixth day, reached Jamalpur earlier today. Leaders of the party, along with leaders of alliance partners Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
The Voter Adhikar Yatra is the latest effort by the opposition to highlight concerns over voter disenfranchisement and electoral transparency in the lead-up to the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. (ANI)
