Ariyalur (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 13 (ANI): Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Chief Vijay on Saturday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the centre, accusing them of "voter deletion" in Bihar and attempting to "dissolve" state governments through One Nation One Election.
Addressing a rally in Ariyalur, Vijay said that he has not entered politics to earn money but to serve people.
"I don't need to earn money through politics. My only purpose is to serve you, the ones who have given me everything; nothing else matters to me. How cruel this BJP government is. In Bihar, 60 lakhs voters are missing from the electoral rolls. Through the idea of 'One Nation, One Election', they are thinking of dissolving all the state governments and conducting elections simultaneously," he said.
"They believe they can carry out many manipulations. This is called the murder of democracy," he added.
Vijay also questioned the state government, led by DMK, over the implementation of promises given in their manifesto for the 2021 Assembly elections.
"The DMK gave more than 500 promises. How many of those promises has this DMK government fulfilled? Without fully implementing them, my dear Chief Minister Stalin shamelessly lies, claiming that all the promises have been fulfilled," he said.
Earlier in the day, Vijay launched his state-wide campaign for the 2026 elections from Tiruchirappalli, where he also questioned the DMK-led government for the same.
"Out of the 505 assurances they made, what has been implemented? Where is the Rs 3 reduction in diesel prices, the monthly electricity bill calculation, the waiver of student education loans, 40 per cent job reservation for women in government services, the restoration of the old pension scheme, and the filling of two lakh government vacancies?" he asked.
He accused the ruling party of ignoring people's real issues, pointing to recent controversies.
"A kidney theft took place in a hospital owned by a DMK member. Women are allowed free travel in buses, but are humiliated with the term 'free, free' being mocked at them. The promise of Rs 1,000 for all women has not been fulfilled, and those who received it are showcased for publicity," he charged.
Vijay assured that TVK would focus on education, electricity, healthcare, women's safety, and legal reforms without compromise. "We will only promise what is practically possible, not empty words," he asserted, adding that victory for TVK was certain.
Vijay intends to present his party, TVK, as a third front in Tamil Nadu politics, an alternative to both the ruling DMK and the opposition AIADMK. The TVK will be contesting the Tamil Nadu assembly elections for the first time since its founding in 2024. The state elections are scheduled to be held in 2026. (ANI)
