Hope Thackeray gets 'wisdom' for calling us 'goondas': BJP
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Jan. 26 (ANI): Taking a swing at Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray's 'no alliance' comment, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said the God may give wisdom to those who call them 'goondas.' Retorting to Thackeray's allegation against the saffron party for hiring goondas, BJP leader Kiit Somaiya said, "May God give wisdom to those (Uddhav Thackeray) who call me and Devendra Fadnavis goondas." Taking a jibe at the Shiv Sena for being 'upset' over the BJP's wish to end corruption in Mumbai, Somaiya asserted they would make no compromise and bring in transparency in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Alleging Shiv Sena of being involved in the corruption, Somaiya mocked at the Shiv Sena saying that if this is the kind of 'transparency' they want, then they would like to refrain themselves from it. "The contractor and the chief engineer of the corporation are in jail. Neither Prime Minister Modi will bring such transparency at the Centre now Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra. If they call such scams transparency, then they can keep such transparency with them only," Somaiya told ANI. Echoing the same sentiments, Devendra Fadnavis didn't show any signs upheaval in the party following Thackeray's announcement of contesting alone in the BMC elections. Fadnavis said that their goal is to make transformation, irrespective of anybody coming along with them. "Power ain't our ultimate goal but a medium of development. We'll take along those who come with us &leave aside who don't. Transformation is inevitable!" he said. Earlier today, Thackeray launched several verbal attacks on BJP saying that Shiv Sena wasted 25 years due to its alliance. While announcing party's decision to contest alone in the upcoming BMC elections, Thackeray alleged BJP of hiring 'goondas' to fight their 'sainiks.' The BMC polls will be held on February 21, and results will be announced on February 23. (ANI)
