Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], March 12 (ANI): As Madhya Pradesh's Rs 4,21,032 crore budget was presented for the financial year 2025-26 in the assembly today, State Minister Tulsi Ram Silawat termed it a 'historic' budget for the development and growth of the state.
Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Silawat said that the state budget covers all sections of society.
"It's a historic budget for the development and growth of the state. All the sections of the society have been covered," Silawat said.
Reacting to the state budget, Narendra Shivaji Patel said, "It's a budget of more than Rs 4.21 lakh crore. No new tax has been introduced. All the older schemes have been continued, and newer schemes have been introduced. Under the leadership of Mohan Yadav, PM Modi's dreams will be fulfilled."
Earlier in the day, Madhya Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Jagdish Devda, after presenting the budget in the state assembly, said, "(This is a budget for) all sections of society--youth, women, farmers. We have taken care of everyone. So, we came out with a 'Mera Budget' book this time, which also has a QR code. This had never happened before... We wanted transparency, for people to know about the budget."
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav said that this year's budget will pave the way for the state's development. "Today, a Rs 4.21 lakh crore budget was presented. This budget will open doors for the development of the state," he said.
However, Congress stated that there is nothing substantial in the budget.
"There is nothing substantial in the budget. It's not bad to take a loan, but where you use that money is the question... There is nothing in this budget. They said that they have taken suggestions from all the MLAs--it's a lie; they haven't taken our suggestions," Congress MLA Phool Singh Baraiya told ANI.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Finance Minister, Jagdish Devda, presented the state budget of a total of Rs 4,21,032 crores for the financial year 2025-26 in the assembly on Wednesday.
The budget amount of this year is around 15 percent more than that of the previous year's budget, which was Rs 3.65 lakh crores. The budget presented for FY 2025-26 has been prepared keeping in view the doubling of the budget size in the next five years, increasing capital investment, expansion of road, irrigation and power facilities, and attracting investment for quality health facilities and employment generation.
While presenting the budget in the state assembly, state finance minister Devda highlighted that efforts were made to obtain suggestions from the public for the preparation of the budget and included them in the state budget for fiscal year 2025-26. (ANI)
