"His father was taking land for jobs...": Giriraj Singh's dig at Tejashwi Yadav over govt jobs promise

Union Minister Giriraj Singh questioned RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, "Why didn't you do it in 15 years? What is your contribution? You say you gave jobs, where did you give them?... What did you do in the department you worked in?"

Patna (Bihar) [India], October 10 (ANI): As RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav, promises to ensure government jobs in every household in Bihar if voted to power, Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday said that it's a "laughable" poll promise while asserting that former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister's father (RJD supremo Lalu Yadav) was registering lands in his name in exchange of jobs to the candidates.
Giriraj Singh was referring to the Land-for-jobs case in which a court has reserved order on framing of charges in a case against Lalu Prasad and his family. The CBI has concluded its arguements on framing charges.
"It's laughable, his father was busy registering land in his name for the jobs. Why didn't you do it in 15 years? What is your contribution? You say you gave jobs, where did you give them? What did you do in the department you worked in?" Union Minister Singh told reporters.
On the seat sharing in the NDA for the Bihar polls, Giriraj Singh said that all is well in the ruling coalition.
"Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, and Upendra Kushwaha can demand seats in the alliance. They have the right to demand. There is no problem, everything is fine."
Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sanjay Mayuk also slammed Yadav, saying that elections cannot be won on false promises.
"Was he asleep? Mother, father, himself, and his sister have all wielded power. Why didn't you remember it then? Now you remember this. When they themselves are unemployed, the people of Bihar have shown them the door from power. His father used to lie, and he is doing it too. Elections can't be won on false promises. The people of Bihar are watching everything. The people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to the lies he constantly tells for power," the BJP leader stated.
The comments follow Yadav's announcement on Thursday that, within 20 days of the formation of the Mahagathbandhan government, it will pass a law ensuring a government job for every household in Bihar.
"We are announcing today that in every family in Bihar where no one currently holds a government job, a new legislation will be enacted to ensure employment. Within 20 days of forming the government, this law will be passed, and within 20 months, every family without a government job will have at least one member employed in government service. Tejashwi will ensure that no household in Bihar is left without a government job," Yadav said while addressing a press conference in Patna.
Tejashwi also mentioned that he provided five lakh government jobs during his 17-month tenure previously, slamming the government by stating that the people who used to mock his party regarding unemployment are receiving unemployment allowances.
"There's no need for Tejashwi to prove his credibility -- the results speak for themselves. In just 17 months, we worked to provide 5 lakh jobs, with appointment letters handed over for 3.5 lakh of them. Now, the same people who once mocked us are talking about giving unemployment allowances, not actual jobs," he said. (ANI)
