Himachal Pradesh: 15 candidates including CM Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur in fray for bypolls in three segments

The Election Department of Himachal Pradesh on Monday announced that a total of 15 candidates, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur, are in the fray for the by-polls to be held in three segments -- Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh.

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 24 (ANI): The Election Department of Himachal Pradesh on Monday announced that a total of 15 candidates, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur, are in the fray for the by-polls to be held in three segments -- Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh.
The by-polls in the three segments will be held on July 10.
An official spokesperson of the Election Department said here today that after scrutiny, now a total of 15 candidates are in the fray in the bye-elections to be held in three assembly constituencies viz, Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh.
He said that the candidates could withdraw their nominations on June 25 and 26 till 3 p.m.
The official said that five candidates are in the fray for Dehra by-polls, four for Hamirpur and six for the Nalagarh by-polls.
CM Sukhu's wife, Kamlesh Thakur is contesting from the Dehra segment.
"In the Dehra segment of Kangra district, Kamlesh (53) of the Indian National Congress (INC), Hoshyar Singh (57) of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Independent candidates Sulekha Devi (59), Arun Ankesh Syal (34) and Advocate Sanjay Sharma (56) are in the fray", the official of the Election Department said.
According to the official, Ashish Sharma (37) of BJP, Dr. Pushpinder Verma (48) of INC and Independent candidates Pradeep Kumar (58) and Nand Lal Sharma (64) are in the fray from Hamirpur Assembly Constituency.
For the Nalagarh segment, Hardeep Singh Bawa (44) of INC, K.L. Thakur (64) of BJP, Kishori Lal Sharma (46) of Swabhiman Party and Independent candidates Gurnam Singh (48), Harpreet Singh (36) and Vijay Singh (36) are in the fray.
The Hamirpur, Nalagarh, and Dehra assembly segments fell vacant after the Speaker accepted the resignation of three independent MLAs who resigned from the House and joined the BJP.(ANI)
