Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], April 23 (ANI): The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee held a special meeting on Monday with the party's spokespersons, media panellists, and social media team members to devise strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and by-polls to six Assembly seats.
The party directed leaders and team members to maintain dignity and respect in their statements on public platforms and social media.
Naresh Chauhan, Media advisor to the Chief minister and Vice-president of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, while speaking to ANI said, "Certainly, we are going to the field for elections. There are 6 by-elections and we have four Lok Sabha elections and we are gearing up for polls. Today we have conducted a meeting of our spokespersons, media panelists and people from social media. We are also taking feedback from them and are planning strategies on how to counter the opposition during the elections in the media."
Hitting out at six-former Congress leaders who cross voted in the Rajya Sabha elections and later joined the BJP, Chauhan said that the rebel leaders will be taught a lesson by the people of the state through their mandate, which he claimed, would be in favour of Congress.
"The six members who have voted against the party lost their membership and they were out of state and horse trading was done. Our chief Minister is also confirming it would be established in near future and this will not be allowed in Himachal Pradesh. The BJP has given tickets to all 6 Congress rebels. People have understood it and the people will teach them a lesson and a message would be sent across the state," Chauhan added.
The polling for four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal, along with six Assembly seats that fell vacant following the disqualification of Congress MLAs, will be held on June 1.
The BJP won all four LS seats in 2019 and the counting will be done on June 4.
The party has fielded youth leader Vikramaditya Singh in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi Lok Sabha seat against BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut.
Congress' Vinod Sultanpuri will contest from the Shimla seat. (ANI)
