Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 8 (ANI): Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress state president Pratibha Virbhadra Singh on Thursday said he deceives people with "jumlas".
On the Opposition alliance, the Congress state chief said it is aimed at not only uniting the political forces against the BJP but also the country.
"The central government is neither talking about inflation nor unemployment. The people are feeling cheated. Modi has cheated the people with jumlas," Singh said at a conference of Congress leaders at the party's state headquarters in Shimla to mark one year of 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.
"The INDIA alliance is aimed at uniting the country. The parties feeling suffocated by the Modi government came together and formed the alliance," she added.
The Congress state president also attacked the BJP government at the centre over the upcoming Special Session of Parliament and the ongoing political slugfest over the Centre's alleged bid to rename the country.
On the 'India vs Bharat' row, which followed an invite from the "President of Bharat" to delegates for a G20 dinner, she said "informed people" understand the real intent of the central government.
"The Opposition MPs were not been informed in advance about the Special Session of Parliament. No one knows why the Parliament is being convened in a hurry," she added.
She also accused the Union government and PM Modi of "not helping Himachal Pradesh during the rain-induced disaster in the state".
On the Bharat Jodo yatra, she said, "During the yatra, people made Rahul Gandhi aware of the way the BJP government was working to divide them. Rahul listened to the people, especially their grievances against this government." (ANI)
