"High-profile politician, people can't meet Omar Abdullah...": says PDP's Bashir Mir

Slamming National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, PDP Candidate from Ganderbal Assembly Constituency Bashir Mir on Wednesday said that he is a high-profile politician and that people know that they will never get to meet him even if they vote for him.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 25 (ANI): Taking a dig at the National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, PDP Candidate from Ganderbal Assembly Constituency Bashir Mir on Wednesday said that he is a high-profile politician and that people know that they will never get to meet him even if they vote for him.
"If you ask me about Ganderbal, why there is so much enthusiasm and why there is such a long queue to vote...one thing is that Omar Abdullah is such a high profile politician...people know that if they vote for him they can never meet him...80% people in Ganderbal is middle class," said Omar Abdullah.
"Middle class and below poverty line people need their representative...people know very well that if they vote for him they will never have access to Omar Abdullah. People want to vote for someone like me a local, whom they will have access to and can address their issues..." he added.

Meanwhile, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday held a roadshow in Jammu city to support PDP candidate Jammu East Assembly Constituency Aditya Gupta. BJP has fielded Yudhvir Sethi and Congress has fielded Yogesh Sawhney from Jammu East Assembly Constituency where the polling will take place in the 3rd phase of the elections scheduled for October 1.
Launching a scathing attack against the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mufti said, "Here (Jammu and Kashmir) the Lieutenant Governor is from BJP, the Prime Minister is from BJP, then what have they done for Jammu? ... As far as BJP is concerned, it will not be able to cross even 15 seats."
"BJP is creating many Bindrawalas in Kashmir. Azadi slogans are getting raised and the BJP is doing nothing because they want to tie up with these independents to make the government in J&K," she added.
Lashing out at Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, she said, "Bulldozer Baba is coming and they wanted to make Ram Mandir to gain in elections and now water is seeping from the temple. People have run bulldozer on the aspiration of bulldozer baba by not voting for him."
Voting for the second phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir began on Wednesday morning. Over 25 lakh eligible voters will seal the fate of 239 candidates across 26 constituencies in six districts of the Union Territory.
Among the prominent candidates are former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah from both Budgam and Ganderbal seats, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina from Nowshera assembly seat and Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hamid Karra from Central-Shalteng seat.
The last phase of polls will be held on October 1 and counting of votes will be held on October 8. (ANI)
