New Delhi [India], August 10 (ANI): BJP MP Manoj Tiwari slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in poll-bound Bihar and alleged that he wants illegal infiltrators to get the voting rights.
Speaking to ANI on Saturday, Manoj Tiwari said that Rahul Gandhi's language does not fit his position as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha.
"The language he (Rahul Gandhi) is using is not befitting the position of Leader of Opposition...He aims to hinder the country's progress, disrupt Parliament, and create unsubstantiated controversies. Now he is trying to ensure that illegal infiltrators are made voters," Tiwari said.
Further, he added that the INDIA bloc is opposing the SIR as they foresaw their defeat in the Bihar Assembly polls.
The BJP MP said, "Illegal infiltrators can never become voters in India, and even if they have, the Election Commission will identify and remove them...SIR, this happens every year before elections... If this issue is troubling the INDI alliance, it clearly means they are already seeing their defeat in the upcoming elections."
On Saturday, BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia hit back at Rahul Gandhi over his recent comments on the Election Commission, accusing him and the Congress party of repeatedly making "baseless allegations" without evidence.
Addressing reporters, Bhatia alleged that the Congress habitually blames whenever it loses elections.
"The Congress party is involved in scams. They lose elections. When they lose elections, they have to blame someone; sometimes, they blame EVMs. Sometimes on VVPAT. Sometimes on the Election Commission of India. Sometimes they abuse the public and make false allegations without facts. And never give a formal complaint," Bhatia said.
"If you want to seek a remedy in law, Mr Rahul Gandhi, I must remind you that our country, India, is governed by the rule of law, the Constitution of India, and there are some procedures to raise your complaint. You have to give a formal complaint. Third, when you make baseless allegations in the media, and after that, any constitutional institution asks for proof, then you refuse to give proof," the BJP leader asserted.
After the ECI released the draft voter list following the SIR in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi sparked a new row and alleged "vote theft" by the ECI, claiming 1,00,250 fake votes in the Mahadevapura Assembly segment in the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha seat. (ANI)

In an 'X' post, TMC said the government has "ek hi naara, line mein rahe desh bechara," pointing to past governmental measures including demonetisation, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the Special Identification Registration (SIR), and now the LPG shortage. The party described demonetisation as a "Tughlaqi farman" that forced ordinary citizens to wait in serpentine queues outside banks and ATMs for days to access their own money. The post also highlighted the 2020 COVID-19 oxygen crisis, when families stood in long lines outside hospitals and suppliers as the public health system collapsed.
