Heavy rainfall continues to lash Marathwada
Marathwada (Maharashtra) [India], Sept. 26 (ANI): Heavy rains continue to lash many parched districts of Marathwada. In Beed district, all dams and reservoirs are overflowing. The Bindusasra Dam, which has been dry for seven years, is now overflowing, as is the Majalgaon Dam. Many villages are under water due to the floods. People have been safely evacuated and two NDRF teams are in the area to handle flood-related rescue and rehabilitation efforts. A similar situation prevails in Osmanabad district. People have been told that the Manjara Dam is likely to overflow tonight due to heavy rains and to make arrangements to move to safer havens. In Kolhapur district, the Radhanagari and Kalammawadi Dams are also overflowing. In the Konkan region, the flood situation is under control in Sindudurg district. Many areas of the Konkan have received 100 mm plus rainfall. Rainfall also hit some parts of Vidarbha. Heavy rains continued in Amravati and Chandrapur districts, affecting the Rabi crop. The met department has warned of heavy to very heavy railfall in Vidrabha in the next 24 hours. (ANI)
