Health Ministry grants Apollo Medical College permission to admit students for MBBS course

New Delhi [India], Sept.21 (ANI): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has granted permission to the Apollo Medical College (Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research) to admit students to the MBBS course for the academic year 2016-17. The college, a dream project of the Apollo Hospitals group, was started with the mission of bringing health care of international standards to Chittoor district in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The Apollo Medical College will have a 320-bedded government district headquarters hospital (established in May 2015) as the teaching hospital under a unique PPP model in agreement with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The hospital has been upgraded with modern facilities as per Medical Council of India (MCI) regulations and will benefit not only the rural poor of Chittoor district, but also thousands of people from surrounding areas with quality health care. This project is expected to set a template for rapid improvement and upgradation of health education and Infrastructure in India. The medical college would support an important initiative to provide holistic health care for more than 700,000 persons, of all age groups, in Chittoor district. This initiative will provide an impetus for the generation of employment opportunities and development of allied services. The Apollo Knowledge Health City Campus with the medical college and other allied health institutes is poised to become an international hub for students, educators and health care professionals. The college boasts of world class infrastructure with state of art smart classrooms, interactive demonstration rooms, accomplished faculty, modern hostel facilities and 24 hour functional library with international text books and Journals. The Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Chittoor is developed in a 40 acre campus with ultra modern teaching facilities. Further details can be availed at aimsrchittoor.edu.in.
