"He should expel all leaders who are openly...": RJD MP flays PM Modi over Oppn charge of 'changing Constitution'

Amid claims from the Opposition that the BJP-led NDA would bring wholesale changes to the Constitution if elected for a third term with more than 400 seats, RJD MP Manoj Jha took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday while describing the Constitution as a scared statute book that enshrines the rights guaranteed to citizens.

Patna (Bihar) [India], April 17 (ANI): Amid claims from the Opposition that the BJP-led NDA would bring wholesale changes to the Constitution if elected for a third term with more than 400 seats, RJD MP Manoj Jha took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday while describing the Constitution as a scared statute book that enshrines the rights guaranteed to citizens.
Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Jha said, "...It (Constitution of India) is the most sacred statute that guarantees our fundamental rights. It comes with the guarantees that ensure a peaceful cohabitation of people cutting across communities. There have been several amendments to the Constitution. But to say that you want to change the Constitution is quite another matter. The Constitution guarantees the right to reservation, rights to education and employment."
Demanding that PM Modi act against BJP leaders allegedly talking about changing the Constitution, the RJD MP said, "If the Prime Minister has to do anything about this, he should expel all leaders who are openly advocating changing the Constitution. Tejashwi Yadav is continuously talking about jobs, women's empowerment and abolishing the (Centre's) 'Agniveer' scheme. Why isn't PM Modi talking about such issues? The elections should be held on these issues."
Also coming down hard on PM Modi for making fun of the RJD's poll pledge to create more jobs, while accusing him of not fulfilling his promise of giving jobs to two crore people, the RJD leader said, "Even parties fighting on two seats can run on the promise of job creation or other benefits. Our democracy and polity allow us to do this. I would suggest that they (BJP) seek lessons on our political and democratic traditions if they aren't aware of them. What happened to your (PM Modi's) promise of creating two crore jobs? He is deliberately distracting the people from real issues."
Earlier, RJD patriarch and former Bihar chief minister, Lalu Yadav claimed that Prime Minister Modi and the BJP would change the Constitution if voted back, adding that people would gouge out the eyes of those trying to do so.
The RJD supremo said people wouldn't stand with those bidding to change the Constitution, adding that the BJP was taking the country towards dictatorship. (ANI)
