New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks in the US have sparked a major political row with BJP's leaders alleging him of 'defaming India'.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday continued the attack, saying that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha is 'with the anti-national forces.'
Giriaj Singh accused Gandhi of supporting Umar Khalid, who was arrested under UAPA over his alleged role in the Delhi riots of 2020, and Ilahn Omar, a US lawmaker known for her critical stance on India.
"When Rahul Gandhi is in the country, even then he is with the anti-national forces, be it Umar Khalid or when in America, be it Ilhan Omar. All those present in his press conference used an anti-India toolkit," Singh said.
Singh further accused Gandhi of 'abusing' the nation on foreign soil and demanded action against him.
"Rahul Gandhi abuses the country, the PM, and democracy. It is now time that action should be taken--his membership (Parliament) should be taken," he said.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje also criticised Rahul Gandhi over his statements.
"Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition inside the Parliament, he is not the leader of the opposition of India. Outside the country, we are one. Why does he not understand this? What does he intend to do by defaming India...Is there any conspiracy against the country? We will not tolerate this," Karandlaje said.
Earlier, Maharashtra CM Eknath Sindhe alleged that Gandhi "defames the country'.
"Whenever LoP Rahul Gandhi goes out, he defames the country, the people, and the Prime Minister. I condemn this. His anti-reservation face has been revealed. This is an insult to the constitution given by Baba Saheb," Sindhe said.
Rahul Gandhi came under massive heat after he made remarks on BJP, Sikh community and reservation while he was addressing the Indian diaspora in the US.
Gandhi, who arrived in Dallas in September 8, also interacted with students and teachers at the University of Texas.(ANI)
