Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], May 16 (ANI): Ahead of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's visit to Punjab for campaigning in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Congress candidate from Jalandhar parliamentary seat, Charanjit Singh Channi, said on Wednesday that CM Kejriwal can't be trusted and that he should be opposed.
"Kejriwal, who is involved in a liquor scam and is out of jail for only 15 days, can't be trusted. A big liquor scam happened in Delhi and the same happened in Punjab as well. We demand an inquiry into it. Instead of being welcomed, he should be opposed," Channi said.
Charanjit Singh Channi is contesting against AAP's Pawan Kumar Tinu and SAD candidate Mohinder Singh Kaypee in Jalandhar. All 13 Lok Sabha seats, including Jalandhar, in Punjab will go to the polls in a single phase on June 1.
According to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sources, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is slated to visit Punjab on Thursday.
Party sources mentioned that a mega roadshow will be held in Amritsar on Thursday to mark the start of the AAP national convener's campaign for Lok Sabha elections in Punjab.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will also be part of the roadshow that will kick off at 6 pm on Thursday, they said.
Following the roadshow, Kejriwal will be paying obeisance to Shri Harminder Saheb, they added.
Notably, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party mutually decided to go solo in Punjab for the Lok Sabha elections but are a part of INDIA bloc in Delhi.
Congress and AAP are in a 3:4 seat-sharing agreement in Delhi.
According to the seat-sharing agreement for Lok Sabha polls between the INDIA bloc members in Delhi, AAP is contesting four seats while Congress has fielded candidates in three constituencies. (ANI)
