New Delhi [India] October 8 (ANI): As Bharatiya Janata Party edges towards a win in the Haryana assembly, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri welcomed the results and hailed the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a convincing "hat-trick" win in the state elections.
"I not only welcome the result of Haryana but also congratulate the Prime Minister and the entire team of the BJP. Under the leadership of PM Modi, it is a hat-trick with such a convincing margin," Hardeep Singh Puri said.
Taking a dig at Congress pre-results celebrations, he said, "Fireworks were seen and jalebis were being made at the Congress office since morning. Several candidates for the Chief Minister also started coming up. They should show some political maturity."
Hardeep Singh Puri warned Congress to never "underestimate the maturity of voters". He added, "Voters of Haryana have made it very clear now that they are voting for their stability and continuity and the development work that PM Modi has done in the last 10 years."
Puri also took a jibe at Aam Aadmi Party that failed to open its account in the Haryana polls and said, "AAP which is active in politics in Delhi had 90 seats in Haryana and 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. Only one of their MLAs won. They did not get any seats in Haryana."
Notably, AAP achieved a significant milestone in Jammu and Kashmir by winning the Doda assembly constituency, where AAP candidate Mehraj Malik triumphed over BJP's Gajay Singh Rana.
On Congress's allegation on the Election Commission of India about delaying up-to-date trends in the Haryana Assembly Election's vote counting, Puri said, "When the result does not come in favour of the Congress party, they fight with the EVM. Then they say that the Election Commission is delaying. The Election Commission has its own procedures
As per the latest update from the Election Commission's website in the ongoing Haryana Legislative Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the leading party, securing 48 seats.
The Indian National Congress (INC) follows closely, having won 36 seats and leading in one, bringing their total to 37 seats. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has won 2 seats. Additionally, Independent candidates have won three seats. The Assembly has 90 seats, with results declared for 89 and 1 still being counted. (ANI)
