Haryana farmers will be arrested if they burn stubble
Chandigarh (Haryana) [India] Apr 25 (ANI): The Haryana Police will now arrest those farmers who would burn stubble. This move comes after many farmers continue to defy orders on burning stubble. Talking to ANI here, ADGP/Law and Order, Muhammad Akilsaid, "Instructions have been issued up to the SHO level that police should first educate farmers about the ill effects of burning of stubble on the environment and on the soil fertility." He, however, added that despite this if any farmer is found burning wheat stubble then he would be immediately arrested and produced before court. Akil informed that similar measures will be taken in the upcoming paddy season. (ANI)
