Haryana CM Khattar pitches for cashless economy
New Delhi [India], Dec. 25 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cashless economy drive and said that his government would reward people for adopting cashless economy. "Most of the villages in Haryana are adopting cashless economy. We will acknowledge and reward such villages and we have already given reward worth Rs. 1.5 lakh to 65 people," Khattar told ANI. Khattar further said cash transaction encourages corruption and flow of black money in the market, adding cashless economy will, therefore, help in curbing corruption. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi, in his 27th 'Mann Ki Baat' address, asserted that cashless transactions in the country had gone up by 200-300 percent post demonetisation. "Today there is curiosity among the people as to how can one go cashless. People want to learn from each other. In the last few days, cashless transactions across the country have increased by 200-300 percent," Prime Minister Modi said, adding that awareness towards online payments and using technology for economic transactions is increasing.
