Jhajjar (Haryana) [India], October 13 (ANI): Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda said that the Haryana elections surprised everyone and party is analysing the results in depth.
"The results that have come have surprised everyone. We are analysing it in depth. Questions are being raised on the election process. We have also raised the issues before the Election Commission and are waiting for their reply," Hooda told reporters on Saturday.
"Despite the cheating by BJP, Congress has got about 40 per cent vote share, equal to the BJP. I want to thank the party workers and the people of Haryana for this. We will continue to raise the voice of the people of the state," he added.
Meanwhile, Nayab Singh Saini is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana on October 17.
The ceremony os slated to be held at Panchkula at 10 am at Dussehra Ground in Sector 5.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present, along with senior leaders from the BJP and Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states.
"We have received the nod of the Prime Minister that on October 17, in Panchkula, the Chief Minister and council of ministers will take oath," Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar told reporters here on Saturday.
Discussions are underway about the Deputy Chief Minister position, as the party contemplates bringing in new faces.
This consideration comes after eight out of ten ministers from the previous Saini government lost their elections.
Notably, Shruti Chaudhary, the granddaughter of the late Bansi Lal, is expected to join the cabinet.
The oath-taking ceremony is anticipated to attract around 100,000 attendees, including several Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, Union ministers, and senior party leaders.
Speculation suggests that the new Haryana cabinet may include Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Midha, Shruti Chaudhary, Arvind Kumar Sharma, Vipul Goel, and Nikhil Madan.
Three independent MLAs from Haryana, Devender Kadyan, Rajesh Joon and Savitri Jindal have also extended their support to the BJP. The Congress won 37 seats.
Earlier on Saturday, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that the party has sent to the Election Commission of India a list of 20 seats in which candidates have submitted written and verbal compaints over Electronic Voting Machines during counting of votes in the recenlty held Haryana Assembly elections.
Speaking to ANI, Khera said "We have sent a list of 20 seats to the Election Commission regarding which our candidates have submitted written and verbal complaints of 99 per cent battery charge. This issue was raised on the day of counting...This is a strange coincidence that the machines which displayed 99 per cent battery charge were the ones on which Congress was mostly made to lose. The machines with 60-70 per cent battery charge are the ones on which Congress won. Why did this happen?" (ANI)
